Alex Prout
Managing Director and Head of Capital Formation, APAC
Mr. Prout is a managing director and Oaktree’s Head of Capital Formation for APAC where he oversees all business development activities in the region. He joined the firm in 2025, with nearly three decades of experience working in financial services, including an extensive track record of building businesses, leading global teams, and strategic planning. Mr. Prout previously served as the Head of Global Client Relations for Nuveen, which was a newly created role in which he was responsible for consultant relations, top global distribution relationships, and strategic institutional clients. Prior thereto, he served as a managing director and Head of APAC for Deutsche Asset Management in Hong Kong responsible for the entire business platform in Asia Pacific overseeing investment professionals and employees across 10 offices. Mr. Prout has also held leadership roles at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Invesco Asia Pacific, Invesco Asset Management Japan, and Merrill Lynch. He received a B.S.L.A. degree in Japanese from Georgetown University and is proficient in Japanese.
