
Jerilyn Castillo McAniff
Managing Director and Head of Diversity & Inclusion and Early Talent
Ms. McAniff is a managing director and serves as Oaktree’s Head of Diversity & Inclusion and Head of Early Talent. In these roles, she oversees programs and initiatives spanning the full employee lifecycle, including the firm’s 12 global employee networks and its Global Mentorship Program; the firm’s partnerships with nonprofit organizations supporting early talent from high school through post-graduate school; early-career programming across the firm’s intern, analyst and associate programs (from recruiting to onboarding, training, and development) and leads the firm’s participation across industry initiatives around inclusion. She also manages a year-long leadership development program for those newly promoted to the VP, SVP and MD levels, as well as firmwide onboarding for all new employees at every level. She has served as co-head of Oaktree’s Diversity & Inclusion Council since 2017. Ms. McAniff joined Oaktree’s U.S. High Yield Bond group in 2008 and worked on the Performing Credit team through 2021 as a senior investment research analyst, including a term as Co-Director of Research. In this capacity she was responsible for the fund’s investments across a range of sectors including consumer discretionary, lodging and leisure, building products, autos, power and services. Ms. McAniff is passionate about serving the broader investment industry and currently is a director of the Board of AltFinance, a nonprofit founded by Oaktree, Ares, and Apollo to expand access to alternative investing careers for HBCU students. She is a Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Bloomberg Women’s Buyside Network California Chapter whose mission is to support women’s careers in the investment industry. She serves on the Girls Who Invest Leadership Circle Advisory Council and an Ambassador Mentor to the program; on the Employee Network Steering Committee of AAAIM (Association of Asian American Investment Managers); on the CFA Los Angeles Inclusion Roundtable; and the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Diversity Steering Committee. Ms. McAniff has led training sessions and developed curricula in valuation, investing, and M&A for banks and asset management firms, and has taught classes and workshops for numerous universities and organizations focused on early talent development and expanding the investment industry talent pipeline. She is passionate about teaching and expanding access and is a co-author of The Practitioner’s Guide to Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Finance. She began her career in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at J.P. Morgan where she worked primarily advising energy, power and utility companies. Her nonprofit and community involvement includes currently serving as a director of Hope Street Friends School; on the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access Committee of the Board of the Los Angeles Master Chorale; a director of the nonprofit 4th Trimester dedicated to transforming the post-partum experience for new parents; lead advisor to a multi-school high school investment club; and chairing the Concert Committee while also serving on the Restoration Committee of St. Andrew Church in Pasadena, California. Ms. McAniff holds a B.S. in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
