Prior to joining Oaktree in 2009, Mr. Schapiro was a founding principal of GFI Energy Ventures. From 1985 to 1995 he was a partner of Venture Associates, and of Arthur Anderson & Co. following that firm’s acquisition of Venture Associates. From 1984 to 1985, Mr. Schapiro was Chief Financial Officer of a technology company and, before that, a commercial banker with The Bank of California whose portfolio was concentrated in the energy sector. Mr. Schapiro has served on the board of directors of Cherokee International Corporation, Elgar Holdings, Inc., InfraSource Inc., Xantrex Technology Inc., Trace Technology, UtiliQuest, LLC, LPPI Holdings LLC, Smart Systems International, Inc., Trans-Elect, Inc. and NORESCO, and he presently serves on the board of directors of Elgin National Industries, Inc. and Integrated Pipeline Services, Inc. Mr. Schapiro received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
