Manish Desai

Mr. Desai is a managing director in Oaktree’s Opportunities group in Los Angeles.  In this role, he focuses on opportunities across the real estate sector.  Mr. Desai rejoined Oaktree in 2024 from Brookfield where he was a managing director in the Real Estate group and served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Brookfield REIT.  There, he was responsible for acquisitions, dispositions, capital markets activity, asset management and all aspects of portfolio management for Brookfield REIT.  Prior to joining Brookfield, Mr. Desai was a managing director in Oaktree’s Real Estate group where he spent over 17 years working in numerous capacities, both in the U.S. and Europe, with a focus on corporate transactions.  He worked with a number of Oaktree’s real estate portfolio companies and has served on the board of directors of STORE Capital Corp. and International Market Centers, Inc. (both specialty REITs).  Prior to joining Oaktree for the first time, Mr. Desai served as an analyst for Morgan Stanley’s real estate investment strategies working on both investment banking and principal transactions.  He holds a B.A. degree from Stanford University.
