Real Estate Debt - Seizing the Opportunity
Oaktree co-chairman Howard Marks has written that he thinks it’s likely that the fed funds rate will average 3.0-3.5% over the next decade, a stark contrast to the near-zero rates seen in the decade leading up to 2022. 1 According to the August report, Core CPI held steady at 3.2%, while headline inflation fell to 2.5%, its lowest level in three years. 2 Employment data provided a mixed picture, with the unemployment rate slightly down to 4.2% from 4.3% and a modest increase of 142,000 jobs added in August.
